Earthing & Breath Work
The name Root&Connect was also inspired by a practice I started while living in Maui in 2013. During this time, I was in the process of healing a broken heart and for some reason, I found refuge in laying down on grass or sand under trees to shade me from the hot Hawaii sun. I did not know that what I was doing was Earthing which is essentially when your body is touching the Earth.
One day while admiring a tree upside down, I felt compelled to photograph this heavenly view. I noticed that a trees roots turns into its Root (trunk) and then Connects all of its branches to form its crown. My realization was that a tree is a system with a process for growing just as we humans have a system which is constantly engaged in the process of growth. And so Root&Connect just made sense!
Earthing is believed to have these benefits:
Reduces Inflammation and Pain
Improves Circulation
Reduces Stress
Promotes Healing
Reduces Toxins
It is believed that the Earth's electrical field transfers to the body if some part of the body touches the earth. As a form of grounding, Earthing is a movement that taps into the electrical energy of the earth.
Through this connection to Earth, the body takes in free electrons, believed to serve as antioxidants. Antioxidants are molecules that block oxidation of other molecules, preventing the development of free radicals which are known to harm the body.
The four elements that make up 96% of our human body weight are hydrogen, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen. So, if we are largely made up of these elements, wouldn't it make sense that we need to be in close contact with the Earth's energy to help us keep them in balance?

I Breathe, therefore I Am.
My breath is what keeps me alive. Deep breathing is a way for me to signal to my Self that I am present and aware of its healing power when I need it.
According to Chinese medicine, our Chi is an "intelligent" energy that protects the body and coordinates its functions. This 'living energy' is called Prana in India.
Researched benefits of deep breathing:
De-stress
Calming Effect
Feel Energized
Improved Digestion
Increased Cardiovascular Capacity
Regulate Weight
